I have been a teacher in Plano ISD since 2007. I have taught 2 years of 6th grade and found my place in 8th grade. I have been the Independent Research Sponsor (Science Fair Coordinator) for 13 years and I love seeing my students feel success through scientific discovery. I started teaching right out of college at Wilson Middle School in Plano and, in 2018, found a new home at Renner Middle School, where I was named Teacher of the year for the 2019-2020 school year. During the 2022-2023 school year, I was named as the Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Award. I've served as the 8th grade team lead and currently the Science Department Head.
During the summer, I taught 4th grade science through the SIGS program with Plano ISD from 2010-2019 and loved getting the opportunity to do something so different, but very much the same as what I do during the school year. I have written curriculum for PISD science for 11 years and I love collaborating with teachers across the district to help build the curriculum for our teachers and students. I was named as a Master Teacher by UT Southwestern to lead a STARS summer science camp since 2020. Through this camp, I am able to provide a fun week for students while helping grow teachers across the DFW metroplex.
When I'm not working, I love watching sports of all kinds, going to the ballpark, reading a good thriller/suspense novel, watching The Office, going to a movie, or enjoying live music. I love being an Aunt to the most adoreable neice and nephew and visit them in my hometown of Tyler, Texas whenever I get a chance. I really enjoy being creative, whether its painting or creating something digital.
