Mr. Joshua Cortez, M. Ed.
Welcome and thank you for visiting my page, Renner Mustangs! My name is Mr. Cortez, and this will be my first year at Renner and in Plano ISD. I am coming from Lubbock, Texas where I taught for four years previously. This year I am joining Renner as a Special Education Teacher and Case Manager and will be teaching Resource English and Reading, and will be in classrooms as an Inclusion teacher. I am a proud graduate of Texas Tech University where I graduated with my Bacherlor's Degree in 2019 and my Master's Degree in Education in 2021.
I became a teacher because I have a deep passion for empowering students and driving students' academic excellence. I am a strong believer in fostering student growth, being an advocate for every learner and helping students instill a love for lifelong learning. When I'm not at work, I enjoy reading, traveling, playing the guitar, cooking, playing basketball or volleyball with my friends, enjoying some video games or simply relaxing on the couch watching Netflix.
I am looking forward to an amazing year getting to know some of our awesome students here at Renner!
