A Little About Me Professionally

I attended Stephen F. Austin State University for my undergraduate degree in education, specializing in reading and early childhood education. I received my Master in Education with an emphasis in reading and gifted education from the University of North Texas. I received my English as a second language certificate in 2017. I received my Speech Communications certification in 2024. I have been privileged to be the Murphy Middle School Mentor Liaison for new teachers for four years and was part of a team of mentor liaisons that helped write a professional development training for all new teachers in PISD.  I was previously on the board of the Dallas Branch of the International Dyslexia Association Dallas Chapter. The 2024-25 school year marks my 28th year teaching. During the course of those years, I have taught 4th grade, 6th grade ELA, 7th grade ELA on level and honors, 8th grade ELA on level and honors, PACE,  7th grade accelerated reading class which supports struggling readers. This year I am proud to be teaching 6-8th-grade Speech and Debate and AVID.
