A little about me professionally
I attended Stephen F. Austin State University for my undergraduate degree in education specializing in reading and early childhood education. I received my Masters in Education with an emphasis in reading and gifted education from the University of North Texas. I received my English as a second language certification in 2017. I have been priviledged to be the Murphy Middle School Mentor Liaison for new teachers for the last four years, and was a part of a team of mentor liaison's that helped write a professional development training for all new teachers in PISD which is still used today. I was previously on the board of the Dallas Branch of the International Dyslexia Association Dallas Chapter. The 2019-2020 school year marks my 23rd year to teach. During the course of those years I have taught 4th grade, 6th grade ELA, 7th grade ELA on level and honors, 8th grade ELA on level and honors, PACE, 7th grade accelerated reading class which supports struggling readers.
A little about me personally
I am married to Curtis Foster who teaches Manufacturing Engineering and Robotics at Naaman Forest High School in Garland ISD. Together we have four beautiful children, Ashton –14,
Sophia-11 and Asia Rose-5, Lorenzo-5. We have also been foster parents since 2007. In my free time I enjoy traveling, decorating, crafting and gardening.
