My name is Yanexy Rodriguez, and I'm from Cuba. Texas is my second home and I like it very much. This is my 14th year teaching Spanish and my sixth as the LOTE Department Head. I'm a former Industrial Engineer in my country, and due to the language barrier when I came to this country, I decided to change careers. Teaching was not a strange profession for me because I used to be a professor (part-time) while practicing engineering. Nothing I love more than teaching my first language and culture and see the student's growth at the end of the year. I believe that every child can learn a second language, and that my experience learning English as an adult can make a big difference in helping my students to feel safe while learning.
I have a big family who lives mostly in my sweet home, Santa Clara, Cuba. Although, my oldest sister is here, and I love spending time with her and her beautiful family (my brother-in-law and the most handsome boy in the world, my nephew). Recently, I brought my parents and they are living with me. I am married to the best men in the world, and we have been together for 14 years as well. He is husband, my friend and my inspiration to be better every day.
I will be teaching this year three preps which are level 2, 3 and 3H in that order. Any parent who wants to have access to your child's Google Classroom, please, email me, and you can have access to our resources and check his/her progress. Please, noticie that when you type my first name, two email pop, my current email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
I have earned two masters' degree, one in Applied Linguistics, and the other one, in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. I am currently working on my Doctorate in Education and I work as a professor at Dallas College at least one class per semester.
I'm very excited and honored to be your child's teacher!
