Rice Announcements

  • 7th-grade STAAR Writing - Tuesday, April 13

    Please refer to this letter regarding the 7th Grade STAAR test and the requirement by the state to proctor it again on Tuesday, April 13, to our 7th-grade students.

    Monday, April 12:

    Teachers may require students to attend their class synchronously on Monday, April 12. They will post this information on their Google Classrooms as well as notify their students prior to the 12th. Please have your child check each Google Classroom for these details. 

    Tuesday, April 13 - STAAR Writing Test:

    7th-grade testers need to arrive prior to 8:15 and report to their testing room. There will be breakfast provided in the cafeteria for those arriving hungry.

    We hope the testing window will be completed by 1:00 pm. Students will be able to call their parents once they are finished with their test. Please don't call the front office. 

    All 6th and 7th-grade learners will stay home and work remotely. Asynchronous work will be posted in the Google Classrooms.

  • Cloth Mask Sale

    Many students have been coming to school without masks, and several students have said they have lost their custom Rice Ravens masks. We have a special sale on our Rice Raven cloth masks! 3 masks for $10!!!

  • Journey to Jag Country

    Jasper High School Welcomes 8th Grade Families to Journey to Jag Country! Please take some time to watch a welcome from Principal Lee, a student panel discussion sharing what they wished they knew when they started, and then explore the materials at your leisure.

  • Please review the traffic plan for arrival and dismissal.

    Classes begin at 8:25. While the building opens at 7:50, we are asking parents to drop their children off after 8:10. Students won't be congregating in the cafeteria or gym like they did in the past. They will be reporting directly to their 1st period class.

    Please talk to your child about using appropriate social distancing while on campus.


    • Front driveway is for BUSES ONLY, do not use this driveway for carpool.


    • 6th grade students AND their sibling/carpool partner:
      • Dropped off and picked up along the driveway outside the cafeteria along the band hall. Students enter in the cafeteria. Parents exit on Gifford.


    • 7th and 8th grade students:
      • Dropped off and picked up along the driveway by Russell Creek. Students enter the building through front doors or pod doors (if open). Parents exit on Russell Creek.


    • Walkers/Bikers/etc.:
      • Students will enter the building through the front doors at arrival.

  • 2021-22 Elementary Transfer Requests

    The 2021-22 elementary transfer request process will begin April 19 at 8:00 a.m. At that time, please visit www.pisd.edu/transfer to receive an online tracking number. Once you have obtained your online tracking number, you will receive instructions detailing how to submit your transfer request electronically. Read more.
