Mr. Daniel Anaya Jr.
Mr. Anaya previously taught science at Renner Middle School, in Plano ISD, for nine years and was a member of the middle school science curriculum writing team just as many. This will be his third year serving at Rice teaching Gateway to Technology (PLTW); Fundamentals of Computer Science; Exploring Information and Computer Technology; Investigating Audio Visual, Arts and Communications; and F.I.R.S.T. Tech Challenge robotics. This will also be his second year as the 7th grade team leader and Team EDGAR (PBIS) co-chair. Before moving to the Dallas area, he taught math and science in Oklahoma for 5 years and completed his pre-service year teaching math in Michigan, where he is originally from.
Recently, he has served as a science department head and First Lego League Robotics Coach. In 2019, he was a recipient of the TI Innovations in STEM Teaching Award and in 2020 was named as one of the teachers receiving a SMU Teacher Award for the success of his students competing in the Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
He currently lives in Allen with his wife, Elaine, and their two children, Adan and Cassandra. When he's not working, he loves reading, watching/playing sports, participating in outdoor activities with his family, tinkering with technology, and casual gaming of all types (video, card, skill, board).
