    FTC Club

Teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors.  Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship

Currently, Rice Middle School has one First Tech Challenge (FTC) team that consists of up to fifteen 7th and 8th graders.  Teams are chosen during September through a tryout process.  Practices, scrimmages and competition tournaments will consume 4-14 hours per week from September until February (possibly longer), so applicants are encouraged be prepared to make a significant time commitment.  Anyone interested in mentoring one of the teams or donating money, tools or materials should contact the sponsors below.

NJAHS (National Junior Art Honor Society)

Our goal is to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art and also to aid members in attaining the highest standards in art, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.

As a member of NJAHS, students should participate in two competitions at PISD as well as Junior VASE.

We are bringing art into other departments at school such as theatre (painting the sets for the play) and Special Education (painting ceiling tiles), as well as painting the pillars in the hallway.
