Mrs. Nicole Lyssy
Although I was born in Missouri, I moved to Plano in 1980 and I've been here most of my life. I went to Thomas Elementary, Hendrick MS, Clark HS, and graduated from PESH in 1995. I earned my bachelors of science in biochemistry from Texas A&M University in 1999. I also met my awesome spouse, Mike while I was there. We were married and I began my teaching career at Bryan High School in 2000. We have two children (one girl and one boy) who both attend Plano schools in the central cluster. Mike likes to say I'm "Plan-o confused".
I started at Plano West in 2003. I've taught every level of chemistry over the years. I still adore my job! I appreciate the opportunity to learn with and about my students every day. They help me stay young, learn about different perspectives and cultures, and challenge me to become a better person. I regularly use my experiences as a parent to improve my teaching. I believe building a classroom community and rapport with my students are the most important parts of my job. Content learning only happens when the classroom is a safe place.
Outside of school, I enjoy the going to the beach, watching movies with my family, reading, and baking.
