Plano West Senior High School is well established in the tradition of excellence in Plano ISD. Each graduating class has distinguished itself with numerous awards in the academic, athletic, and fine arts arenas. Plano West students are dedicated to academic excellence as demonstrated by the fact that 24% of the 2017 graduating classes earned a GPA of 4.0 or greater and 55% of the class earned a 3.5 GPA or greater. Plano West students are award winners in the fields of Science, Math, Economics, Writing, and the Fine Arts.
The dedication to academic excellence is also amplified through their scores on the state mandated End of Course tests. 98% of all Plano West students passed the US History EOC, with 72% achieving at the Masters Level.
The atmosphere at Plano West is one of promoting success for all students. In addition to the on-level curriculum, students are also offered numerous Pre-AP classes and 28 Advanced Placement courses. To understand the college experience students may also take college classes in US History, English, Government and Economics through dual enrollment with Collin College in Plano. Annually, more than 13 million dollars in college scholarships are offered to our students. Plano West students are accepted to the top colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad.
Forty percent of the staff members at Plano West hold advanced degrees in education. Our staff continually enhances the educational experience for each of our students. The academic performance of students at Plano West earned the school the 2009 Texas Business and Education Coalition Award, the most prestigious academic award a Texas Public School can achieve.

Tutorials
Plano West encourages students that need assistance to attend tutorials. Students are able to go to any teacher that teaches their subject at the times listed in the link below. However, if a student has a specific concern about grading, the student will need to speak with their individual teacher.
