Ms. Kat Conklin

Hi, y'all!  I am looking foward to helping my students grow as learners and thinkers while exploring US Government.  In addition to teaching government, I am also the assistant drill team director for the Plano West Royales.  One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping my students realize their potential and see what success likes for themselves.

I am a Plano graduate from Plano East, class of 2000, and former Plano East Golden Girl! I also attended Carpenter MS and Clark HS.  I went to the University of North Texas in Denton, graduating in 2004.  While I was at North Texas, I was an memeber and officer of Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity.  One of my favorite activities in college, other than studying history, was continuing my dance education through numerous classes including pointe.  After college I decided to go into teaching and attended Texas Woman's University, graduating with a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies.

I started teaching at John Paul II HS in Plano, where I taught Latin and 9th grade World History/Cultures.  I came back to PISD in 2006 when I joined Jasper HS Social Studies teaching World History and AP World History, and continued teaching Latin, as well.  While at Jasper, I was the assistant drill team director for the Jasper Jazz. I moved to Plano West in 2013; since I've been at Plano West I have taught AP US History, World History, and on-level US History. I like to stay busy, lol!

In the summers, I am an AP Reader for US History, I write curriculum for the district, and I like to travel with friends and families.  My most recent passport stamp was Cuba!
