Hello Plano West Senior High families! I'm thrilled to be part of the ESL Department this year and to work with both our newcomer and advanced students to enhance their English language skills. Before joining PWSH, I taught ESOL1 at Vines High School. I have a strong passion for literature and for aiding my ESL students in blossoming within a new language. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my family and my two dogs.
Aside from being a teacher, I am a wife and a mother of two teenage boys. One is a freshman at Williams High School, and the other is a senior at Plano East Senior High School.
I was born and raised in Romania and immigrated to Canada 20 years ago. My family and I moved to Plano in March 2022.
Having experienced some of the same struggles and concerns as my students, I can truly empathize with them. Adjusting to life in a new country surrounded by new people is no easy task, but learning the language of that country can greatly improve one's overall life. This is why I'm here: to support my students in navigating through this process by teaching them the English language.
In my class, there is absolutely no shame in asking questions. If you're unsure about something, don't hesitate to ask. It's okay not to know everything; after all, you're here to learn. Don't feel stressed! I'm not here to reprimand you, but rather to listen and assist you in any way I can.
When mutual respect exists, there can be understanding, cooperation, and a productive teacher-student relationship.
