Mission Statement

The Plano West Counseling Department is a visible and valuable resource which serves to advocate, support and develop student-centered programs that provide social/emotional development, college, career and military readiness, and academic success for all students.

The Plano West Counseling Department strives to provide a caring atmosphere that encourages personal growth and integrity, and assists all students in realizing a successful educational experience in preparation for graduation and beyond. The Counselors have personally represented Plano West students on many college & university campuses in Texas and throughout the country, and are actively involved in the American School Counseling Association and serve on the board of LSSSCA (Lone Star State School Counselor Association) at the state levels.

In addition to attending colleges throughout Texas, Plano West students also attend top tier universities, community colleges, vocational training and the military throughout the country.

Important Announcement

SCHEDULE CHANGE guidelines 24-25

Students must follow their full schedule for the first week of school. 

Students can come to the counseling office to pick up a schedule change request form during lunch, before or after school.

Students can come to the counseling office during the current “missing period” ONLY.

Students must have a parent signature completed on the schedule change request form.

Schedule changes will ONLY be permitted for the following reasons:

• I am a senior and I am not enrolled in the class needed for graduation
• I have the same class twice on my schedule
• I am enrolled in a class for which I have already earned credit
• Level changes will be considered (i.e. honors to on-level)
• I have a program change (i.e. band, athletics, cheer, choir, etc.)

Sorry, NO ELECTIVE COURSE, TEACHER OR LUNCH CHANGES!!!

Schedule changes are not guaranteed and please allow 48 hours for completion.

Please know we want EVERY student to have a correct schedule and to receive their course choices….due to limited seat availability that may not happen.

The deadline to request a schedule change will be August 23rd.

AP and DUAL CREDIT COURSE CHANGE DEADLINE: August 30^th

After this deadline you will remain in course until the 1^st 9 weeks has ended:  Oct. 11^th. (See Counselor to request change at that time.)
