Mr. Mike Stanton

Hello Jasper Wolves!

I am excited about beginning my 28th year in education. I have been here at Jasper since the campus opened in 1996. In addition to teaching Humanities, I also serve as the chair of the Social Studies Department as well as the campus Gifted & Talented Coordinator.

I also serve as the faculty sponsor for the Jasper Quiz Bowl team and our campus chapter of the Gender & Sexuality Alliance.

I am a proud graduate of P.I.S.D. schools. I attended Davis, Christie and Thomas Elementary schools; Carpenter and Schmielpfenig Middle Schools; Clark High School; and graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1989. I attended the University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em Horns!!) where I earned a degree in English with a minor in History. My wife, Karen Stanton, is also in P.I.S.D. as she is the Coordinator for the International Baccalaureate World School at Plano East Senior High.

We have two amazing daughters! Our older daughter, Karter, is in her third year at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Jillian, my younger daughter, is beginning her first year at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Fundamental to my educational philosophy is that all students know that they can grow in my class and that they have a voice in this world. I hope that I can help each student find that voice and become their most authentic, confident self.

Please do not hesitate to reach out and contact me if I can support you and your students in any way.
