Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Mike Stanton
Hello Jasper Jaguars!
I am excited to begin my 25th year in education. This is the only school I have ever taught at; I have been here at Jasper since the campus opened! In addition to teaching Humanities, I also serve as the chair of the Social Studies Department as well as the campus Gifted & Talented Coordinator.
I am the faculty sponsor for the Jasper Quiz Bowl team and our campus chapter of the Gender & Sexuality Alliance.
I am a proud graduate of PISD schools. I attended Davis, Christie and Thomas Elementary schools; Carpenter and Schmielpfenig Middle Schools; Clark High School; and graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1989. I attended the University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em Horns!!) where I earned a degree in English with a minor in History. My wife, Karen Stanton, is also in PISD as she is the Coordinator for the International Baccalaureate World School at Plano East Senior High. We have two amazing daughters; Karter, who is 17, and Jillian, who is 15.
It is fundamental to my educational philosophy that all students know that they can grow in my class and know that they have a voice in this world. I hope that I can help each student find that voice and become their most authentic selves.
Please do not hesitate to reach out and contact me if I can support you and your student in any way.
