  • Plano ISD is committed to excellence, and in the spirit of this commitment, the 2021-2022 school year marks the inaugural year of the Plano ISD Leadership and Ambassador Program.

    This leadership program is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of Plano ISD. Ultimately program graduates will feel empowered and motivated to be active participants in the district’s mission. Participants will be provided with learning opportunities regarding the academic and operational goals of the district in order to help provide a greater understanding of internal operations at both district and campus levels. District leadership is looking forward to learning from program participants in two-way interactions. The program culminates in a recognition/graduation event in the spring.

    Program Goal

    The ultimate goal of the Leadership & Ambassador Program is to create a community of informed leaders. The program will provide participants with learning opportunities to explore the inner-workings of the district and is intended to form a foundation of understanding and involvement in the future focus of Plano ISD. Program graduates may be called upon to support the district through participation in strategic planning, redistricting discussions, district and campus improvement teams, focus groups and other planning committees.

    Who Should Apply?

    Potential applicants include Plano ISD community members, parents, PTA members and members of the Plano area business community, to name a few, who are interested in gaining insight into what is happening in Plano ISD.

    Is There a Fee to Participate in this Program?

    Participation in the Leadership & Ambassador Program is free. 

    How to Apply?

    The application process has closed for the 2021-2022 program. Applicants will be notified by email of their acceptance status by July 27, 2021.

    Program Dates and Times

    This in-person program will feature five daytime sessions, culminating in a recognition for graduates on the evening of May 19, 2022. Attendance at all sessions is required.

    • Monday, September 13, 2021 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      District overview and update; school finance; team building; leadership development
    • Thursday, October 14, 2021 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      Scavenger hunt introducing participants to district facilities
    • Thursday, November 18, 2021 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      Academic programs, Portrait of a Graduate and Career and Technical Education programs
    • Thursday, January 27, 2022 – 9 am. to 1 p.m.
      Staff recruitment, support and growth
    • Thursday, March 24, 2022 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      Community engagement, wraparound services and advocacy
    • Thursday, May 19, 2022 - 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
      Recognition and reception for Class 1 graduates
