Cybersecurity Awareness Program
-
Hello, my name is Simon, the Defender Dog. I am on the mission to protect Plano ISD students and staff from cyberattacks and help raise awareness of cybersecurity.
Just in time for Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we are launching a new awareness program to help our colleagues be vigilant against cyber threats and succeed in the mission to keep our organization secure. Your 100% participation by the end of October will also help us comply with Texas Government Code Section 2054.5191 for the 2024-2025 school year.
Please remember, Security Starts with You!
To access the training conveniently:
- Log in to webdesk.pisd.edu website using your district provided network account. Find and launch the ‘InfosecIQ’ app.
- You should now see the dashboard where you can access the training "TX DIR Security Awareness 2024-2025 ”. Click on ‘Start Course’ to begin the course. The course can be finished in multiple sessions.
Please note that a direct link to the training is also emailed from notifications@securityiq-notifications.com to you for easy access. You will also receive a weekly email notification until you finish the course. Those emails may occasionally land in the spam folder.
For any questions or inquiries, please contact the Plano ISD Help Desk at helpdesk@pisd.edu 469-752-8767
Important Cybersecurity Facts: Why We All Need to Stay Vigilant.
- A significant portion of our staff is susceptible to social engineering attacks, such as phishing emails. This creates serious risks, as bad actors often find it simpler to manipulate employees into revealing their usernames and passwords or installing malware than to breach our systems directly.
- Cyber incidents such as Ransomware and Data Breach can severely disrupt our operations and have a lasting impact, not only financially but also on our reputation.
- The average cost of a data breach in the education sector is USD 3.65 million [Source: IBM Security Cost of a Data Breach Report 2023]
I need your participation in this program to help with the mission to provide a safe and effective learning environment for our learners.
Thank you,
Simon, The Defender Dog
