  • 2025-2026 Fare Busing

    Fare Busing

    Fare Busing is a transportation service offered by Plano ISD to students residing within 2 miles of their designated campus.

    • It is contingent upon available seating on existing eligible regular bus routes. 
    • Once these buses reach capacity, no additional routes will be established for Fare Busing.

    This service is limited to specific areas where bus capacity can accommodate additional students and operates on a space-available, first-come, first-served basis. FARE Busing is only accessible to students attending schools within their assigned Board approved attendance boundary verified in Skyward.

    Please note: Busing is not available to students who request a transfer to a school outside of their designated attendance boundary, as outlined in the district’s transfer guidelines.

  • Application Process

    Applications for Fare Busing do not carry forward from one school year to the next. You must reapply each year for each student. Applications for the following school year may be submitted beginning in September of the current school year.

    • Parents may submit a Fare Busing application to Plano ISD Transportation. The application will open in September 2025.
    • Fare busing services will be evaluated starting October 1, 2025 as the district must first offer transportation to all current eligible students.
    • Once the district has established ridership, Fare Busing may be provided on a first come first serve basis.
    • Once a route is full, Fare Busing will not be provided for that route. 
    • No additional Fare Busing routes will be added.
    • If you are selected for Fare Busing services, you will receive an approval notification. 

    Approvals

    • All approvals will only be held for up to 48 hours.
    • Failure to render payment timely will result in forfeiture of the student’s spot on the bus.
    • Upon approval, the student will  make a payment of $800 (prorated by month for a partial year, and is non-refundable).
    • Reduced rates are also available for students who qualify for the free and reduced National School Lunch Program at a cost of $350 (prorated by month for a partial year, and is non-refundable).
    • Fare Busing students will be assigned to existing stops on bus routes as space and time allows.
    • The availability of seats varies with each route and each school year. 

    Students participating in the Fare Busing Program are required to adhere to the same safety rules and are subject to the same disciplinary procedures as other students. Drivers are not authorized to accept payments for the Fare Busing Program. Payments must be made through the online Student Quickpay system.

  • Enrollment Procedures

    Please refrain from making any payments until the completion of the following process and until you receive notification from the Fare Busing office instructing you to do so.

    1. Complete the Fare Busing Google Form Application.
    2. Allow our staff at least 5 - 10 business days to process your application and determine whether you are eligible and if we can accommodate your request. 
    3. You will be contacted when the process is complete. If we confirm that we can accommodate your student in the program, you will be required to make a payment for the school year within 48 hours to initiate the service. The preferred method of payment is through the electronic electronic service.

    Once payment has been made, you must monitor your Student Quickpay account account for your student's bus information. This could take up to 5 business days.
