  • History of Forman

Forman honors pioneer William Forman I (1792-1856), who moved from Kentucky to the Plano area in 1850 and acquired considerable land. He and his sons ran several businesses: a farm, distillery, sawmill, store and a cooperage for making barrerls. Forman also had a private post office in his home, 1851-52, and then became Plano's first official postmaster.

Forman Elementary was completed in 1971 at a cost of $546,880 with an addition the following year and major renovation in 1996.
