History of Meadows
Meadows opened in 1964 on land donated by Dallas oilman and philanthropist Algur Hurtle Meadows, founder of what eventuually became General American Oil Company and donor of SMU's Meadows Museum of Spanish Art. Constructed at a cost of $265,000, the school had additions in 1965 and 1973 and a thorough renovation with additions from 1990 to 1992.
