• Student Transfer Requests

  • 2024-2025 Intra-District Transfer Requests

    • ALL grades: Kindergarten - 12th
    • Transfer requests accepted beginning January 8, 2024
    • Submit a Request
    • Notification
      • Once you have submitted the transfer request, please allow up to 4 - 6 weeks to receive a decision.
    • All transfers will be processed on a first come, first serve basis via this electronic process.
    • Transfers will not be accepted to campuses on the No Transfer list  (unless you are reversing to your home campus) 
    • You will need to submit one form per student. 
    • There will be NO waitlist for the 2024-2025 school year.
    • Transfer requests will be accepted through the fourth Friday of June.
    • School bus transportation is NOT provided for transfer students.

  • Required Information for Submitting Transfer Request

    • 6-digit Student ID# (Only needed for currently enrolled Plano ISD students. Not needed if child is not yet enrolled)
    • Parent/Guardian’s ID
    • Proof of residency (one of the following):
      • Current electric/water/gas bill (showing service address and usage) or 
      • Lease agreement signed by both the tenant and landlord or owner’s representative. 

    Please note: Transfers will not be processed without proper proof of residency.

  • Proof of Residency

    If the proof of residency is not on the parent/guardian’s name, you will need to secure a Proof of Residency Statement.

    The document:

    • Needs to be signed by the person whose name is on the proof of residency provided.
    • Must be notarized. 
    • Must be submitted with transfer request.

  • Current Transfer Students

    NEW THIS YEAR: If your student is currently on an intra-district  transfer and would like to remain at the same campus, or move on to the current feeder school (elementary to middle school, middle school to high school, or high school to senior high) you do not need to submit a new transfer form.

    Please note: This does not apply to students on a program transfer or other district placements, such as:

    • Bilingual (Dual Language)
    • IB/PYP Huffman
    • Math Rocks
    • Pre-K

    Students in transition years (5th, 8th & 10th grades) in the programs listed above will revert back to their home campus feeder unless parents submit an intra-district transfer request.

    Starting January 8, 2024, please submit a new transfer request if you wish to select a different campus or return to your home campus/feeder.

  • 2024-2025 Inter-District Transfers
    Students residing outside Plano ISD boundaries

    • Inter-district transfer applications for Kindergarten - 12th grade is Now Available.
    • At the time of application, admission criteria will include these required documents.
      • Official attendance records for the 2023-2024 school year
        • Requirement of ≥ 95% for each class
      • Declaration of Student Discipline Form for the 2023-2024 school year signed by a school administrator
        • No in-school suspensions
        • No out-of-school suspensions
        • No Disciplinary Alternative Education Placement
      • IEP or 504 Plan if a student is served by one of these programs
      • Proof of Residency
        • Current electric/water/gas bill (showing name, service address and usage) OR
        • Lease agreement signed by both tenant and landlord or owner’s representative.
      • Please note: Incoming Kinder students that have not yet attended school - Discipline and attendance records are not required.

    Online Inter-district Transfer Application

    • Transfers will not be accepted to campuses that are on the No Transfer list
    • Other transfers are limited to space available at the requested campus.

  • General Information

    Intra-district transfers

    Intra-District Transfers are considered beginning the first teacher workday back after winter break through the fourth Friday in June and at mid-term

    • Transfers are not allowed from one campus to another during academic semesters.

     

    Inter-district transfers

    Inter-District Transfers are considered beginning the third Monday in April through the fourth Friday in June.

    Due to building instructional programs and functions, enrollment projections, staff assignments, boundary changes, and/or anticipated construction projects we will NOT be approving requests to transfer for the fall semester of the 2024-25 school year TO the following schools:

    • Renner Middle School
    • Rice Middle School

    NOTICE:

    Transfer requests to all other Plano ISD schools will be considered on a space/staff available basis in the particular grade level/classroom. Several grade levels in a building may be closed to transfer students due to staffing and enrollment.

    This list is subject to change.

  • Can I reverse a transfer?

    Intra-district transfers

    Intra-district transfer is a commitment for at least one semester. Transfers or reversal of transfers to return to the home campus are not granted during semesters.

     

    Inter-district transfers

    Inter-district transfers are granted annually but the parent may choose to withdraw their student at any time and return to their home district.

  • How long does a transfer last and can it be revoked?

    Intra-district transfers

    Once approved, the intra-district transfer is in effective for all grade levels in the designated feeder unless the school becomes overcrowded or the principal revokes the transfer.  When a change of level is made (elementary to middle school, middle school to high school, etc.) a new transfer form is not needed unless the student would like to return to their home campus feeder or select a different school.  

    Siblings are not guaranteed approval to the same campus. Transfer availability will be evaluated at the time of their request.

    An Intra-district transfer may be revoked by the school principal if disciplinary or attendance rules are violated, if there is a lack of academic progress, or if there is a lack of parental cooperation at the transfer campus.

    Intra-district transfers are revocable at the fall semester or end of school year.

     

    Inter-district transfers

    Inter-district transfers are approved for one school year only under Texas Education Code requirements.  All inter-district transfer students must reapply and qualify annually. 

    The parent/guardian will be notified when it is time to renew their inter-district transfer for the following year. 

    Inter-district transfers may be revoked by the school principal if disciplinary or attendance rules are violated, if there is a lack of academic progress, or if there is a lack of parental cooperation

    Inter-district transfers are revocable at the end of the academic year.

  • Moving Out of Plano ISD During Current School Year

    If you wish for your child to stay in his current Plano ISD school the remainder of the school year, you will need to complete an Inter-district Transfer form.

    • Please contact Valerie Helm to obtain the interdistrict transfer form.
    • Along with the transfer form, please submit a copy of your current
      • gas,
      • water,
      • electric bill, or
      • signed lease agreement

    Please note:  These transfers may be renewed yearly pending approval. Inter-district transfers may be revoked by the school principal if disciplinary or attendance rules are violated, if there is a lack of academic progress, or if there is a lack of parental cooperation at the new campus.
