Plano Senior High/Eastwood High School Pre-game Reception United Leaders from 3 Cities & their School Districts

In the spirit of sportsmanship and unity, representatives from Plano ISD, Ysleta ISD, Frisco ISD, the City of Plano, the City of El Paso, the City of Frisco and community and state leaders attended a pre-game reception prior to the Eastwood High School vs. Plano Senior High football game played at the Star at the Ford Center in Frisco thanks to the gracious offer from Frisco ISD and the Dallas Cowboys.
During the event, guests were welcomed by Superintendent of Schools Sara Bonser, Frisco ISD Superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip and Ysleta ISD Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre who offered their remarks of thanks that these three school districts, their communities and the Dallas Cowboys organization had united so that students could play this important game.

The reception included the presentation of the Plano ISD Board of Trustees "Eastwood High School and Plano Senior High School Unity Football Game Day" proclamation read by Plano ISD Board President Tammy Richards and presented to the Ysleta Board President Cruz Ochoa.

Eastwood High School and Plano Senior High School Unity Football Game Day
Whereas, in the spirit of sportsmanship and uniting communities, Eastwood High School and Plano Senior High School will play a football game connecting students, cities and communities; and
Whereas, these students, school districts and their communities embrace this opportunity to be defined by harmony, graciousness, fairness and respect for all, and reject being defined by the actions of others; and
Whereas, the Plano Independent School District is grateful to the Ysleta Independent School District, the Frisco Independent School District and the Dallas Cowboys organization for recognizing that high school sports have a special opportunity to connect students and communities and for working together to make this game possible; and
Whereas, by the playing of this September 5, 2019, game of football, we honor and pay tribute to all of the citizens in El Paso, Plano, Frisco and the State of Texas who will come together to model our students’ example of unity, fairness and unyielding support of one another.
Whereas, the strength of character and commitment to community shown by the students, coaches, staff and administrators of the Ysleta Independent School District and the Plano Independent School District on September 5, 2019, will be remembered as a healing and unifying statement to the world;
Therefore, the Plano Independent School District Board of Trustees does hereby proclaim
September 5, 2019, as Eastwood High School and Plano Senior High School Unity Football Game Day in Plano ISD, and urges everyone to show support for the El Paso community by courageously championing each school district, its community and the students who proudly participate in this game.
In official acknowledgement whereof, this Proclamation is signed and sealed this third day of September 2019.
Also speaking at the reception were Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere, Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney as well as El Paso Mayor Dee Margo, who closed the event with a heartfelt tribute to his city and the student athletes. This meaningful game provided an opportunity to pay tribute to all of the citizens of El Paso, as well as Plano, Frisco and the State of Texas, who came together to model these high school students’ example of unity, fairness and unyielding support of one another. This was a game where everyone wins.
