January 13, 2021

The annual National Art Honor Society/National Junior Art Honor Society (NAHS/NJAHS) 2021 juried exhibition includes two Plano ISD student works of art selected among 93 works chosen for display from the 1,187 submissions.

This exhibition showcases the artwork of talented student artists who are members of the NAHS/NJAHS programs. This year's selected artworks are on exhibit virtually only beginning January 11. View the exhibition gallery virtually.

Congratulations to:

  • Li Shen, Plano West Senior High, titled "Portrait of Colors," teacher: Ted Kincaid.

Using textures and color varieties, I aim to reflect life and character through an unembellished human portrait. People, often defined by clothes, accessories and hairstyles, sometimes forget that what makes us interesting is ultimately how we express what's within us.

  • Emma Ting, Plano Senior High, title: "Rise and Fall," teacher: Allison Garrison

This triptych is a tribute to the natural order of things – the rise and fall. I used someone jumping out of water to indicate movement because nature's cycles are more fluid than they are abrupt stages. The middle panel has a more graphic style to show the peak frozen in time.
