Robinson Middle School PALs leading the board meeting's Pledges of Allegiance
To help open the meeting, the Robinson Middle School PALs (Peer Assistance and Leadership), performed the Pledges of Allegiance to the United States and Texas flags.
PAL (Peer Assistance and Leadership) is an award-winning program providing effective training in “resiliency” strategies. They are student leaders on campus and are trained to build relationships, empower students with constructive skills to lead by, and create positive role models for all students in school. Amber Davis-White, who serves as the faculty sponsor for PALs at Robinson, shared a little about her group with the Trustees and Cabinet members. "My goal in leading this program is to develop leaders and cultivate lasting leadership qualities in my students. It is an honor to work with these amazing students."

After the pledges, the recognitions continued for Robinson Middle School, as the counseling team was recognized for receiving the 2022 Lone Star State School Counseling Association's Bronze Award. The Lone Star State School Counseling Association's Lone Star Awards recognize comprehensive counseling programs that are data-driven, developmentally appropriate, and delivered to all students with the goal of improving student outcomes, closing achievement and opportunity gaps, and preparing students for post-secondary success. The Lone Star Awards also prepare school counselors to apply for the national American School Counseling Association (ASCA) Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) award.

To wrap up the recognition portion of the meeting, Jeff Banner, Principal of Plano Senior High School, addressed the board to introduce an exciting hire: Coach Cody White. Coach White joins us most recently from a long and successful career at Brentwood Academy, which included his being named 3 times as the Tennessee Football Coach of the Year. His Texas roots run deep, though, as prior to that, Coach White led a highly successful program at Denison High School and previously served as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Odessa Permian High School and passing game coordinator and quarterback coach at Highland Park High School. His impressive career includes 4 state championships, numerous semi-final, quarter-final, and area championships, and an overall winning record of 138-49. He played at Texas State University and is a graduate of Baylor University. Coach White was joined by his wife Lori.
