    Precalculus Courses

    Course: 155001 YR
    Precalculus
    Credit: 1
    Grade: 11, 12
    Course ID:  155001
    YR
    Course Name: Precalculus
    Credit: 1
    Grade Placement: 11, 12

Required Prerequisite(s): Algebra II and Geometry

What's Next: Statistics, AP Statistics, Dual Credit Statistics, or AP Calculus AB

This course deepens students' mathematical understanding and fluency with algebra and trigonometry, and extends their ability to make connections and apply concepts and procedures at higher levels. This is done through a study of numerous functional relationships, including polynomial, rational, power (including radical), exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and piecewise–defined functions.Students analyze the characteristics and behaviors of these functions. Topics also include conic sections, their properties, and parametric representations; sequences and series; and using vectors to model physical situations. Precalculus is designed to prepare students for the study of calculus, whether taken in high school or at the college setting.

    Course: 150651 YR
    AP Precalculus
    Credit: 1
    Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12
    Course ID:  150651
    YR
    Course Name: AP Precalculus
    Credit: 1
    Grade Placement: 9, 10, 11, 12

Required Prerequisite(s): Algebra II and Geometry

What's Next: AP Calculus AB or BC, Statistics, AP Statistics, or Dual Credit Statistics

In AP Precalculus, students build deep mastery of modeling and functions, and they examine scenarios through multiple representations. They will learn how to observe, explore, and build mathematical meaning from dynamic systems, an important practice for thriving in an ever–changing world. Topics include the study of functions as it relates to modeling data, exploring multiple representations, and mastering symbolic manipulation.AP Precalculus prepares students for other college–level mathematics and science courses. This course may be the student’s capstone secondary mathematics course; therefore it is not exclusively focused on preparation for future secondary math courses.

    Course: 15513B, 15523B YR
    Precalculus Dual Credit
    Credit: 1
    Grade: 10, 11, 12
    Course ID:  15513B, 15523B
    YR
    Course Name: Precalculus Dual Credit
    Credit: 1
    Grade Placement: 10, 11, 12

Required Prerequisite(s): Algebra II or Algebra II Honors and Geometry or Geometry Honors (and student must be TSI met)

    What's Next: NONE

Students will enroll in MATH 1314 College Algebra during the fall semester of this course and will enroll in MATH 2412 Pre‐Calculus during the spring semester of this course. Students must pass MATH 1314 in the fall to be eligible to take MATH 2412 in the spring.Note: Students in Dual Credit Statistics will also take MATH 1314 during the fall semester; therefore, students may not enroll in both Dual Credit Precalculus and Dual Credit Statistics.
