Course: 205001 YR
Chemistry
Credit: 1
Grade: 10, 11, 12
Course ID: 205001
YR
Course Name: Chemistry
Credit: 1
Grade Placement: 10, 11, 12
Required Prerequisite(s): Algebra I plus Biology or IPC
What's Next: Physics, AP Biology, OnRamps Biology, AP Chemistry, or AP Environmental Science
Chemistry is the study of the structure, composition, and behavior of matter. Topics covered in this course will include development of the Periodic Table, atomic theory, atomic bonding, matter in chemical substance and reactions, kinetic molecular theory & ideal gases, behavior of solutions, acids & bases, energy changes, and nuclear chemistry.Chemistry is laboratory–oriented and student investigations emphasize asking questions and identifying problems, gathering and analyzing data, developing and communicating conclusions, and making informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving. All Chemistry students will conduct research to learn the aspects of the scientific research process.
Course: 205031 YR
Chemistry Honors
Credit: 1
Grade: 10, 11, 12
Course ID: 205031

Course Name: Chemistry Honors
Credit: 1
Grade Placement: 10, 11, 12
Required Prerequisite(s): Algebra I and Biology
What's Next: Physics, AP Biology, OnRamps Biology, AP Chemistry, or AP Environmental Science
Chemistry is the study of the structure, composition, and behavior of matter. Chemistry Honors is an accelerated course designed for students who have demonstrated an ability and interest in science beyond what is offered in the regular Chemistry course.Topics covered in this course will include development of the Periodic Table, atomic theory, atomic bonding, matter in chemical substance and reactions, kinetic molecular theory & ideal gases, behavior of solutions, acids & bases, energy changes, and nuclear chemistry.Chemistry is laboratory–oriented and student investigations emphasize asking questions and identifying problems, gathering and analyzing data, developing and communicating conclusions, and making informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving. While all Chemistry students will conduct research, independent science research is a requirement of Chemistry Honors.
