Science 7 is an integrated course consisting of four major units of study – Matter & Energy; Force, Motion, & Energy; Earth & Space; Organisms & Environments – taught through the context of recurring scientific themes and concepts. Content will build on what was learned in 6th grade science. Topics of focus include changes in matter; motion of objects; thermal energy;objects in the solar system; plate tectonics; Earth's water systems; human organ systems; natural and artificial selection; flow of energy; and taxonomy. Students will design and conduct field and laboratory investigations, including asking questions and identifying problems, gathering and analyzing data, developing and communicating conclusions, and making informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving.
