What's Next:
This course is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of choral singing, largely in the treble range for this first year. Areas of focus will include characteristic, age–appropriate tone, tonality, meter, rhythm, form, articulation, dynamics, balance, notation/terminology, melody/line, harmony, scales/patterns, posture, hand position, and technique. Multiple sections of beginning choir typically combine for performances.Students will be required to demonstrate their learning by performing in concerts outside the school day during the school year. Students may have the opportunity to perform at a solo festival and concert festival in the spring. Limited outside of school rehearsals and performances will be required to fulfill all course requirements. Class placement is determined by audition. No previous musical experience is necessary. This is a full–year course.
