    Algebra II Courses

    Course: 154001 YR
    Algebra II
    Credit: 1
    Grade: 10, 11, 12
    Course ID:  154001
    YR
    Course Name: Algebra II
    Credit: 1
    Grade Placement: 10, 11, 12

Required Prerequisite(s): Algebra I and Geometry

What's Next: Precalculus, AP Precalculus or Precalculus Dual Credit

In this course students build on their knowledge from Algebra I to broaden their understanding of functions and extend previous work with systems of equations and inequalities. In previous coursework, students have only worked with three main function families: linear, quadratic and exponential.Algebra II expands on these three functions and broadens students’ exploration of patterns with the study of additional functional relationships, including logarithmic, square root, cubic, absolute value, and rational functions. Students will study transformations and inverses of these functions, as well as using the functions in data analysis. *10th graders with a strong Algebra I background may concurrently enroll in Algebra II and Geometry.

    Course: 154031 YR
    Algebra II Honors
    Credit: 1
    Grade: 10, 11, 12
    Course ID:  154031
    YR
    Course Name: Algebra II Honors
    Credit: 1
    Grade Placement: 10, 11, 12

Required Prerequisite(s): Algebra I or Algebra I Honors, and Geometry or Geometry Honors

What's Next: Precalculus, AP Precalculus or Precalculus Dual Credit

This course includes a more challenging and rigorous study of algebraic thinking and symbolic reasoning, as well as extensions of the topics listed in the above description. Students use multiple representations and precise mathematical language to describe patterns, solve problems, and justify their reasoning. *10th graders with a strong Algebra I background may concurrently enroll in Algebra II and Geometry.

    Course: 154231 YR
    OnRamps Algebra II
    Credit: 1
    Grade: 11, 12
    Course ID:  154231
    YR
    Course Name: OnRamps Algebra II
    Credit: 1
    Grade Placement: 11, 12

Required Prerequisite(s): Algebra I, Geometry (Recommended)

    What's Next: AP Precalculus

In this dual enrollment course, students will deepen their critical thinking skills and develop their ability to persist through challenges as they explore function families: linear, absolute value, quadratic, polynomial, radical, rational, exponential, and logarithmic. OnRamps dual enrollment courses meet for one class period five days a week, and students have the option at the conclusion of the course to accept or decline college credit from UT Austin. This course has an enrollment fee due during the fall semester and consists of assessments graded by a UT professor. College credit granted for MATH 1314 (3 credit hours). Students taking Dual Credit Statistics or Precalculus after OnRamps Algebra are advised that these courses include MATH 1314; taking MATH 1314 in both courses could result in a change on your college transcript. If a student takes OnRamps Algebra II and accepts the UT Austin college credit for Math 1314, the student will need to determine if they want to take the college course Math 1314 as a part of Precalculus or Statistics Dual Credit. Taking Math 1314 in both OnRamps and Dual Credit courses could result in a grade change on your college transcript.
