100 Plano ISD Teachers Surprised with $150,000 in Grants From Education Foundation

Several Plano ISD campuses were full of smiles and cheers as Plano ISD and the Plano ISD Education Foundation surprised 100 educators with $150,000 in grants to support campus initiatives for student enrichment.
These grants are funded annually by the Education Foundation and business sponsors. The grant process began earlier this school year as educators across the district were encouraged to apply. Applications were judged by a committee of volunteers who completed a scoring rubric that aimed to rate applications on variables such as expected outcomes and how the money will be spent. Details regarding the research behind the requests as well as how initiatives support the Plano ISD strategic plan were also required in the applications.
Funded grants range from science, English language learning, special education, libraries, field trips and more for PreK to 12th grade.
A special thank you to Park Place Lexus (founding sponsor), H-E-B and the CoServ Charitable Foundation for sponsoring this year's event.
The Foundation's portion of the grant are supported through annual events and fundraisers, such as Supporting Kids In (SKI) Plano, the North Texas Giving Day Campaign, and the Plano ISD employee campaign. SKI Plano, the foundation's largest event, is open to the public and will be held on February 10, 2024, and more information is available here.
