Texas State Exemplary campus; Gold Performance Acknowledgements with Increased Commended Performance in reading, math, writing and science; PISD Exemplary Writing campus (1997-05); Nutrition Center awarded a perfect score by the City Health Department (2013); district and regional science fair winners; award winning PTA ; district and state PTA Reflections winners; Plano ISD Education Foundation Grants to Educators recipient campus (1998-09); Plano ISD Experienced Teacher of the Year (2013) Crest Award presented to Counselor Andi Goldsticker, February 2011; Texas Business & Education Coalition (TBEC) awarded November 2010; and Healthy Choice School award (2011–present).

Parent Involvement Opportunities

Active parental involvement has been a cornerstone for building community and supporting all students at Bethany since our doors opened in 1993.  Volunteering at Bethany supports students through: Parent/Teacher Association (PTA); School-Based Improvement Committee (SBIC); library, book fair and literacy library; field trips; tutoring/mentoring; yearbook; Y/O packet; Dad’s Club; field day; Community Connectedness events like carnivals and sock hops; Reflections contest, Bethany Bunch Bits monthly newsletters; chess and math enrichment opportunities; and parent education sessions.

History of Bethany 

Bethany continues the name of the Bethany community, established in 1876. The original two-room school house was located on the northwest corner of Custer and Cothes Roads; it and the adjacent First Christian Church were torn down years ago, though the cemetery survives. Bethany Elementary opened for the 1993-94 school year, built with funds from the 1990 bond election.
