History of Jasper
Jasper honors Plano banker and businessman Thomas Chilton Jasper (1844-1924). He came to Plano in 1887 as a Civil War veteran from Kentucky and opened Plano National Bank, serving as its head cashier until his retirement in 1913. Jasper was also the treasurer of Texas Electric Railway Company and a founder of the Plano Cotton Oil Company.
Jasper High opened in 1996, sharing its 104-acre property and heating/cooling system with Gulledge Elementary and Robinson Middle School.
