Where do you plan to attend college and what do you plan to major in?

I will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) in computer science at Princeton University, though my plans may change.

What are your career plans after college?

I am open to several different career paths. Right now, I am mostly considering a career in tech.

What school activities/clubs have you been involved in?

Computer Science Club (President), LASER (Vice President), Math Club (Officer) and National Honor Society (NHS)

What Plano ISD teacher(s) impacted you the most and how?

There are three teachers who I’ve known since my freshman year and they’ve impacted me the most.

Ms. Horton (computer science), who furthered my interest in computer science and provided me with so many opportunities to learn and grow, especially as a freshman in a club consisting of upperclassmen.

Ms. Baker (scientific, research and design), who made science fair really organized and enjoyable, helped me hone my presentation skills, and provided lots of encouragement over four years.

Ms. Kottwitz (calculus), who made me fall in love with calculus and the creativity it requires, realize its real-world applications, and answered all my questions, no matter how simple or complex.

What is the most interesting school project/assignment you have been involved with?

My favorite project was from AP World History in 10th grade. My group had to write and create a 20-minute movie for an epic character in Ancient China. We spent time researching and writing a great script. We shot at several locations with multiple cameras, wore special attire, choreographed and practiced elaborate scenes, delivered Oscar-worthy performances, and edited it all together with music and special effects. It was a ton of fun. If I recall correctly, our movie was voted as either the best or second best by our classmates.

What is your favorite school memory?

My classmates in AP biology and multivariable calculus/differential equations were absolutely awesome. They made me look forward to class every day and there were many enjoyable moments filled with laughter and discussion that I will always remember. Outside of the classroom, I’ve enjoyed playing Uno and basketball with friends during lunch.

What advice do you have for future high school graduates?

Take classes you’re interested in while at the same time branching out and exploring other areas. This is a good time to get out of your comfort zone and be exposed to new ideas and knowledge. Joining school clubs and organizations is another way to explore and meet new people.

What have you learned about yourself during this historic senior year that you will apply to your future?

I’ve learned not to stress about factors that are out of my control, both in regards to COVID and college admissions. Key to this was maintaining an optimistic attitude throughout. I also spent time reflecting on things that happened and what I can do to be prepared in the future. Adapting to change is important.
