  • History of Brinker

Brinker (opened 1988, cost $3.2 million) honors the memory of Maureen Connolly Brinker, "Little Mo", the first woman to win the Grand Slam tennis championship and the dominant force in women's tennis from 1951-54. She was one of only five Grand Slam winners in history - the youngest player and the first woman to win. Brinker (1934-69) and her family moved to Dallas in 1963, where her husband Norman started the Steak and Ale restaurant chain. The school was dedicated on November 20, 1988.
