Board Member Jeri Chambers
Jeri Chambers was elected to her second term on the PISD board in 2021. She was originally appointed to the school board in January 2018. Ms. Chambers was elected by her fellow trustees to serve as board secretary from 2021 to 2024. She has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Texas-Austin and a master's degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She has 12+ years of experience as an educator, with eight years as a Plano ISD teacher.
In addition to teaching math at Wilson Middle School and fifth grade at Wells Elementary, Ms. Chambers worked with homebound students and as a Title I math teacher at Otto Middle School. She has been involved in booster clubs and volunteered with the PTA. She has served on the District Based Improvement Council and the Elementary Academic Committee. She is a board member with the Plano ISD Education Foundation.
Professionally, Ms. Chambers works in the nonprofit sector as a senior donor relations officer with Communities Foundation of Texas, Collin County office. In 2023, she was named as the inaugural recipient of the Spirit of Judy Drotman award through the ArtCentre of Plano. She has also been recognized as the 2020 Plano Citizen of the Year and as the Collin County Woman of the Year in 2019.
As a member of the Junior League of Collin County (JLCC), Ms. Chambers is a creator and founder of Sci-Tech Discovery Center. She served on the JLCC board as a community strategic director. She is a past president of Plano Youth Leadership. Ms. Chambers is a graduate of Leadership Plano, Leadership North Texas and Leadership Texas. She also serves on the Texas Health Resources Community Impact Board and the University of Texas College of Education Educator Preparation Advisory Committee. She is a member of the Leadership TASB class of 2024 and looks forward to embracing the responsibility the designation of Master Trustee holds.
Ms. Chambers grew up in Richardson, Texas where she and her husband met in Ms. Briegal’s fourth grade class. They moved to Plano in 1994. Their two children graduated from both Plano Senior High and the United States Military Academy, Westpoint and are both currently serving with the United States Army. They are the proud grandparents of two little boys.
