Board Member Dr. Heather Wang
Dr. Heather Wang was elected by her fellow trustees to serve as board secretary in May 2020. Dr. Wang and her husband Jack have been living in Plano since 2006. Both have had successful careers while serving the community and raising their family. Dr. Wang attended graduate school at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where she received her master’s and Ph.D. degrees in German language and literature.
A committed and active advocate for promoting education as a means to develop personal achievement and upward social mobility, Dr. Wang loves contributing her time to help students, teachers and parents in the classroom, library, PTA and booster club. She served as vice president of ways and means in the Jasper High School PTSA. She has also served as a member of both the Diversity Advisory Committee and the Gifted and Talented (PACE) Advisory Committee, having been appointed to each in 2017 by the Plano ISD School Board.
Dr. Wang works tirelessly to strengthen our community. She is a member of the Library Advisory Board (appointed by the Plano City Council in 2017) and a graduate of the Plano Citizens Academy. Dr. Wang is a co-founder and board member of the Youth Community Impact Association. She was also a co-founder of the Amazing Champions Toastmasters Club and Youth Leadership Program and and served as vice president of membership. Previously, she served as president of the Younger Generation Children’s Chorus. Dr. Wang and her family attend and serve at Chase Oaks Church in Plano.
