• Parent Services

The Mobile Computer Lab provides many different services that are free to PISD parents. We concentrate our services towards Title I schools. However, we serve all the schools of the district. Our classes are bilingual (English/Spanish).

    Computer Classes

Include the use of the mouse and keyboard for beginners. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher are taught at basic and intermediate levels. Parents may receive a certificate upon completion of class requirements.

    Internet Classes

We teach basic Internet vocabulary, Internet search, create email accounts, teach basic and intermediate email skills, and the basics of Google Drive.

    Typing Skills

Online typing lessons complement the computer classes.

    Parent Portal

We assist parents with the creation of Parent Portal accounts and train them in the navigation and use of the portal. Parents will be able to fill out emergency cards and registration forms, view student grades, attendance, immunizations, learning growth charts and more.

    Language Classes

Parents can learn or improve their English or Spanish language skills through the Rosetta Stone program. The software uses images, text, and sound to teach users words and grammar. Parents can practice reading, listening, speaking and writing skills.

    Educational Websites

Parents are trained in the use of student educational websites, so they can support their children at home.

    Job Search Skills

We offer job search support, assist with creation of resumes, interest letters and interview basics.

    Meal applications

Starting early in August, the Mobile Computer Lab visits schools and Plano neighborhoods to assist parents with filling out online meal applications.

    Volunteer Applications

We assist parents with the creation and renewal of volunteer applications.

    PASAR Registration and Payments

We provide support with both PASAR registration and payments through Parent Portal.

Partnership with Plano Public Library System

We partner with Plano Public Library system. At some locations where the Mobile Computer Lab stations, parents have the opportunity to talk directly with Plano Public Library staff, learn about library resources and get library cards.

    Community Resources Information

Parents in need of community resources are provided with current agency services and contact information.
