Art I
Course Number: 451001
Art I allows the student the opportunity to learn how to work with a large variety of materials. The first semester of Art I will introduce the student to drawing and color study using the elements and principles of design. Drawing will consist of sequential learning steps with emphasis on developing shading skills. Color studies will include but not be restricted to using waterbase paint. The second semester, which builds on first semester skills, will include the study of painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and fibers (optional). Printmaking will involve relief printing; sculpture will include additive construction; ceramics will consist of hand building methods of pinch, coil, and slab; fibers might consist of basic weaving or other techniques. Computer manipulated works are incorporated into the curriculum. The approximate student supply cost is $35.00.
Art I must be scheduled for both semesters. -
Art II
Course Number: 452001
Art II allows the student the opportunity to work with a large variety of materials. The first semester of Art II is designed to continue a sequential study of drawing and colored media. Formal compositions will be completed in realistic, abstract, and non-objective styles. Second semester, which builds on first semester skills, will include painting, printmaking techniques, and three-dimensional studies. Students will build upon skills learned in Art I . Computer manipulated works are incorporated into the curriculum. The approximate student supply cost is $35.00

Art III
Course Number: 453001
First Semester Art III will provide in-depth compositional studies in drawing and painting. Drawing studies will emphasize advanced life drawing techniques. Painting emphasis may be on techniques of watercolor and mixed media, plus relating art history to periods of drawing and painting. A variety of techniques will be introduced. Second semester may cover advanced printmaking, crafts, sculpture, and ceramics. Ceramics and sculpture will emphasize complex combinations of hand built techniques. Computer manipulated works are incorporated into the curriculum. The approximate student supply cost is $35.00.

Art AP ⁄ Honors Drawing

Art H/AP Drawing Portfolio, a two-hour class, is an advanced studio course for the college-bound and career-oriented student. It is designed for talented art students who wish to pursue college level studies while in high school. Emphasis will be on a variety of 2-D works like drawings, painting, printmaking, etc. Students will compile portfolios that fulfill the current College Board requirements. This is a two-hour class. Students receive two credits, 1 AP credit and 1 honors credit. This course prepares the student to take the AP College Board exam.

Art AP ⁄ Honors 2-D Design

Art H⁄AP TwoDimensional Design is an advanced studio course for the collegebound and career-oriented student. It is designed for talented art students who wish to pursue college level studies while in high school. Emphasis will be on advanced drawing and painting styles, 2D design, and color study. Computer manipulated works are incorporated into the curriculum. Students will compile portfolios that fulfill current College Board requirements. This is a two-hour class. Students receive two credits, 1 AP credit and 1 honors credit. This course prepares the student to take the AP exam.
Prerequisite(s): Art I , Art II, portfolio, and teacher recommendation -
Art AP ⁄ Honors 3-D Design

Our goal is to help the student do the following:- To develop techniques to make 3D form while using the art elements & principles in an aesthetic manner
- To move in his or her own creative direction to explore visual ideas.
Artwork will range from abstractions, to expressive and symbolic forms, to functional objects. Many students use this class to explore career options in design fields: architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, fashion design, industrial design, theatre design, medical model illustration, automobile design, model-making, special effects, and even a career as a fine artist.
Students who take this class are expected to accumulate images of their 3D work to submit to the College Board for scoring in order to be eligible for college course credit in 3D Design.
Prerequisite(s): Art I or Sculpture is the minimum course requirement. A teacher recommendation and approval of portfolio examples is also required. -
AP Art History
Course Number: 454071
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the rich traditions of western and non-European architecture, sculpture, painting and other art forms through factual knowledge and the skillful use of principles of aesthetics and comparative criticism. Students will learn how to respond to works of art with intelligence and sensitivity, examining the major forms of artistic expression of the past and of distant cultures as well as those of their own time and environment. Electronic generated projects are incorporated into the curriculum. Students will earn college credit by passing an exam written by the College Board. This course prepares the student to take the AP Art History exam. The approximate exam cost is $45 and student supply cost is $25.00.

IB Art Design III

International Baccalaureate Art Design III and IV are taken over two years to prepare students for the IB Art Higher level exam. IB Art Design III is designed for students who are seriously interested in the actual experience of creating and researching art. This course will be individually charted to meet the needs and interests of each student. IB Art is designed to include independent research along with instruction in advanced art techniques and media. This course is the first course necessary for preparation for the IB Art Higher level exam. The approximate supply cost is $100.00.

IB Art Design IV
Course Number: 456451
International Baccalaureate Art Design IV is the second year of IB Art. It is designed for students who are seriously interested in the actual experience of creating and researching art. This course will be individually charted to meet the needs and interests of each student. IB Art is designed to include independent research along with instruction in advanced art techniques and media. This course is the second course necessary for preparation for the IB Art Higher Level exam. The approximate supply cost is $100.00.
