Cell Phone Policy
Plano East permits the use of electronic devices in non-instructional areas during academic hours. Electronic devices may be used in the classroom, library, and other instructional areas at teacher/staff direction when instructionally appropriate. Teachers are authorized to prohibit the use of cell phones or other electronic devices in their classroom. Teachers are permitted to tell students to put away cell phones or other electronic devices upon entering their classroom. Students that violate these rules may have their electronic devices collected by the teacher, administrator, or Plano East Staff. Refusal to turn in phone upon teacher request will result in the student being sent to sub-school for further disciplinary action in accordance with the student code of conduct. Students who violate this policy shall be subject to disciplinary measures as outlined below:
- 1st offense – Educator will provide a warning and have a private conversation with the student; this may include confiscation by teacher.
- 2nd offense – Educator will call the parent to discuss issue; this may include confiscation by teacher.
- 3rd offense – Educator will send a referral to Assistant Principals offcie for additional consequences; this may include confiscation by teacher.
