History of Hendrick
Hendrick honors former PISD Superintendent Dr. H. Wayne Hendrick, a Collin County natuve who held that position 1961-91. After serving in World War II, Hendrick attended North Texas State University, earning his B.S., M.S., and Ed. D. there. Under his guidance as a Superintendent, the Plano school population grew from 1,335 students to more than 28,000.
Hendrick Middle School opened in 1987 as an elementary school (K-8) at a cost of $7.25 million; in 1990 it was converted to a middle school.
