Board Vice President Nancy Humphrey
Ms. Humphrey was elected to serve her fourth term on the Plano ISD Board of Trustees in May 2021. She was elected to serve as vice president for the 2021-22 school year, and she has served as board president, vice president and secretary throughout her eleven years on the board. In 2014-2015, while serving as president, the Board of Trustees was named an Outstanding School Board in Region 10 and one of five finalists in the state.
Ms. Humphrey is a member of the Plano ISD Board’s legislative subcommittee, audit committee and liaison to the cities of Plano and Richardson. She serves on the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Committee. She and her fellow legislative subcommittee members created Taxparency Texas to create awareness about the need for school finance reform.
She is active with National School Boards Association, North Texas Area Association of School Boards and Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). She graduated in the Leadership TASB Class 2015 as a Master Trustee.
As an active PTA volunteer and booster volunteer when her children were Plano ISD students, she received a Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership in 2006. In 2012, she received the Texas PTA Extended Service Award.
In her community, Ms. Humphrey has volunteered in various capacities with organizations including Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, Boy Scout Troop 1776, Heritage Farmstead Museum and the SPCA. She is a ten-year member of the Plano Rotary Club and is a graduate of Leadership Plano Class 30. In 2017, she received the Hearts and Heroes Community Service Award from Health Services of North Texas. Most recently, Ms. Humphrey received the 2020 Athena Award at the Best of Plano Awards hosted by the Plano Chamber of Commerce.
She served on the executive Board of the Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America from 2011-2018, and received the Silver Beaver Award by Circle Ten Council. She continues to serve at the District level as the Instructional Head for several troops—including a new girl troop—chartered through Plano Rotary Club.
Ms. Humphrey continues to volunteer for the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit that provides Plano ISD graduates, who overcame adversity, with college scholarships and support services for success in life. She recently retired from her position as Executive Director.
She is a graduate of the University of North Texas with bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting and has many years of experience in both public accounting and private industry.
She and her husband of nearly 30 years have two children. Their daughter, who graduated from the IB World School at Plano East Senior High and Vanderbilt University, is now a management consultant in Nashville. Their son, who graduated from Plano East Senior High School and University of Missouri School of Journalism, is now a multi-media reporter for KOAA News 5 in Colorado Springs.
Nancy is a fifth generation Texan with ancestors who arrived in Collin County in the 1850’s from Tennessee and Virginia.
