    Trustee Nancy Humphrey

    Ms. Humphrey was elected to serve her fourth term on the Plano ISD Board of Trustees in May 2021. She was elected to serve as president for the 2024-25 school year, and she has served in key roles throughout her fourteen years on the board. In 2014-2015, while serving as president, the Board of Trustees was named an Outstanding School Board in Region 10 and one of five finalists in the state.

    Ms. Humphrey is chair of the Plano ISD Board’s legislative subcommittee, serves on the School Safety and Security Committee, and is a liaison to the City of Richardson and City of Plano. She serves on the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Board and its Workforce Committee. In 2015, she and her fellow legislative subcommittee members created Taxparency Texas to create awareness about the need for school finance reform.  She frequently advocates for public schools at the state capitol during legislative sessions.

    She is active with North Texas Area Association of School Boards (NTAASB) and Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), serving on the Legislative Advisory Council.  She graduated in the Leadership TASB Class 2015 as a Master Trustee.

    As an active PTA volunteer and booster volunteer when her children were Plano ISD students, she received a Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership in 2006. In 2012, she received the Texas PTA Extended Service Award.

    In her community, Ms. Humphrey has volunteered in various capacities with organizations including Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, BSA Girl and BoyTroops 1776, Heritage Farmstead Museum, and the SPCA. She is a fourteen-year member of the Plano Rotary Club and is also a graduate of Leadership Plano Class 30.  Awards include the Hearts and Heroes Community Service Award from Health Services of North Texas in 2017, the Silver Beaver Award in 2019 for her support of Scouting, and the 2020 Athena Award, presented by the Plano Chamber of Commerce at the Best of Plano Awards.

    Though she retired from her position as Executive Director in 2019, Ms. Humphrey remains committed to supporting the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides college scholarships and support services to Plano ISD graduates who have overcome adversity.

    She holds both a bachelor and master degree in accounting from the University of North Texas. She had experience in both public accounting and private industry and has since retired from practice.

    She and her husband have been happily married for 33 years and have two children. Their daughter graduated from the IB World School at Plano East Senior High. Their son also graduated from Plano East Senior High School.

    Nancy is a fifth generation Texan with ancestors who arrived in Collin County in the 1850s from Tennessee and Virginia.
