Board Secretary Profile
Nancy Humphrey was elected to serve her third term on the school board in May 2017. In May 2017, her fellow trustees elected her to serve as board secretary for the 2017-18 school year. Previously she served as president for three consecutive school years, 2013-14 through 2015-16 and as vice president for three years.
Since 2002, she has been an active PTA volunteer, having served in many officer positions or chaired committees at Murphy Middle School PTA, Stinson Elementary PTA and Williams High School PTSA. She has also been treasurer of band and drill team booster clubs in her children's schools. She became a Texas PTA Honorary Life Member in 2006. In 2012, she received the Texas PTA Extended Service Award.
In her community, Ms. Humphrey has been involved with a number of organizations including Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church, Boy Scout Troop 1776, Hendrick Scholarship Foundation, Heritage Farmstead Museum and SPCA. She is an active member of the Plano Rotary Club (board member and chair of the annual golf tournament benefiting Hendrick Scholarship Foundation), is a graduate of Leadership Plano Class 30 and serves on the Executive Board of the Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America. She is a member of the National School Boards Association and, as a member of Texas Association of School Boards, she serves on its Legislative Advisory Council and is participating in the Leadership TASB Class 2015.
Ms. Humphrey is a graduate of the University of North Texas with bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting. She has sixteen years of experience in both public accounting and private industry. Ms. Humphrey was born in Dallas and has been a resident of Plano ISD for 24 years. She and her husband have two children, a son who graduated from Plano East Senior High School where he was in the marching band and a newspaper editor, and a daughter who graduated from Plano East Senior High School (IB World School) and is attending Vanderbilt University.
