Dr. Yoram Solomon was elected to serve his first term on the school board in May 2015. He holds a Ph.D. in organization and management from Capella University, with a dissertation and research in creativity. He also holds an MBA from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, a law degree (LLB) from Tel-Aviv University in Israel and an E-TECH degree in electronics and computer science from Ort Singalovski in Israel. He participated in the “Developing the Strategic Leader” program at the Center for Creative Leadership and in the executive “Marketing Management Program” at Stanford University.
Dr. Solomon has worked as an executive vice president of corporate strategy at Interphase Corporation in Carrollton since 2008 and is the inventor and general manager of the penveu educational technology product line. Before that he worked at Texas Instruments, PCTEL, Voyager Technologies and Solram Electronics. He holds nine U.S. patents and one international patent with more pending.
He is a graduate of Leadership Plano, a board member in the Plano Youth Leadership program, an aerospace education officer in the Plano Mustangs Civil Air Patrol squadron, a member of the Plano Rotary Club and a member of the American Educational Research Association. He also served on the boards and executive committees of the Alliance for Higher Education, the North Texas Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization and the Texas Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Solomon developed and taught a “Technology and Industry Forecasting” class at the University of Texas at Dallas Graduate School of Management Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and he is the author of two published books. He spends time in Plano ISD schools teaching Junior Achievement, entrepreneurship, creativity and other topics.
Dr. Solomon was born in Israel and served at the Israel Defense Forces' 35th Airborne Paratroopers Brigade. He moved to the Silicon Valley area of California with his wife in 1998 where both their daughters were born. The family moved to Plano in 2003. Both daughters attend Plano ISD schools.
