Wyatt History

Wyatt Elementary School bears the name of Slater B. Wyatt, to whom children's health and education were very important. As a young man growing up in Tennesee, Wyatt did not see himself as a dirt farmer for the rest of his life. Instead, he saved enough money in order to pay his way to Baylor Medical School. He later worked in a sawmill in order to substantiate starting his medical practice.

Wyatt opened the first 12-bed hospital and made a name for himself in the medical field for his treatment of asthma. Aside from being a doctor, he served 20 years on the Plano ISD school board. He married with 3 children and lived to be 91 ½ years old.
