The Plano East Color Guard is part of the Plano East Senior School Band organization. Comprised mainly of band members, membership is open to any student at Plano East. All members are selected on the basis of auditions which are held during the spring semester.
The Color Guard, sometimes referred to simply as the "Guard", enhances the musical efforts of the band through visual performance. The Color Guard performs as the primary visual component of the Plano marching band in the fall as part of its competitive field production. In the winter and early spring, the Plano East Color Guard prepares a competitive indoor production of its own, set to recorded music, an activity known as Winter Guard. The Plano East Winter Guard competes from late January to early April.
There are financial obligations associated with being a member of the color guard. These obligations can be met through personal monies or through fund raising activities organized by the Plano East Band Boosters.
The Plano East Color Guard receives instruction from well-known instructors who are highly regarded in the Color Guard arena.
