Progress Monitoring for Monolingual and Bilingual
Progress Monitoring includes all informal assessments occurring in the dyslexia therapy classroom. These assessments inform the dyslexia specialist about the dyslexia curriculum and the progress students are making within that program. This data also informs the teacher when to adjust instruction based on the student's needs.
All progress monitoring, no matter the particular curriculum, focuses on two key elements:
- Single-Word Decoding - students read 50 words that directly correlate with the curriculum and demonstrate the ability to read words out of context in isolation.
- Reading Fluency - students are assessed for their rate, accuracy, and comprehension through QRI Qualitative Inventory or IRI - Informal Reading Inventory, Microsoft Teams Reading Progress application, or Benchmark Oral Reading Record for Spanish.
