Committee review of the West Cluster posed unique challenges across the feeder. Due to the geographic complexities with school capacities, larger student population per campus, unpredictable growth in special programs, as well as the needs outside the scope of the committee, the administration was directed to conduct further analysis and provide programmatic recommendations no later than December 2024. View the analysis report that was presented to the Plano ISD Board of Trustees on December 10, 2024.

    Why Further Study

    • Overall cluster utilization for each level is at or above 80%, which is 11 to 17% greater than the East and Central Clusters respectively.
    • The growth in the emergent bilingual population is accelerating with more than 1,000 new students during the 2023-2024 school year.
    • New student (newcomer) growth is unpredictable.
    • Program-related transfers in the West are approximately 2x the number in the East, and approximately 3x the number in the Central.
Student growth and density are concentrated in the southwest portion of the cluster, which has very little available capacity.

Building Usage for the 2025-2026 School Year

    • Elementary without changes: 80%
    • Middle without changes: 84%

NOTE: The building usage percentages for the West Cluster are higher than those in the East and Central Cluster even after closure recommendations.
