    Davis Elementary School

    2023-2024 Enrollment: 332 Students

The closure of Davis Elementary impacts partnering schools Harrington Elementary and Saigling Elementary.

  • Harrington Elementary | 1540 Baffin Bay Drive | Plano

Families residing on the east side of Roundrock Trail and all families currently transferring into Davis, including those who attend the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf, will attend Harrington Elementary (estimated 247 students), Haggard Middle School, Vines High School and ultimately Plano Senior High School.

  • Saigling Elementary | 3600 Matterhorn Drive | Plano

Families residing on the west side of Roundrock Trail will attend Saigling Elementary (estimated 82 students), Haggard Middle School, Vines High School and ultimately Plano Senior High School.

Rationale and Benefits

    • Davis Elementary is an older building, built in 1972, with higher needs according to the Plano ISD facility assessment score
    • Campuses in close proximity (within a 3 mile radius) can accommodate the students from Davis without overcrowding and eliminating the need to replace a building
    • Harrington Elementary and Saigling Elementary can currently accommodate increased enrollment from Davis Elementary and has a higher facility assessment score than Davis, specifically with regard to the structure of the facility
    • Davis Elementary enrollment among families in the current attendance area has declined and is projected to further decline over the next five years
    • Combined, there is only 59% utilization between these 3 campuses
    • The nearly $4.7 million currently allocated to Davis for capital improvements can be reallocated to improve other campuses
    • Families impacted will remain in the Plano Senior High School feeder pattern

Bond Facility Upgrades

    • Harrington Elementary received approximately $3 million in upgrades from the 2022 bond program with the first phase scheduled to be completed for the 2024-2025 school year and will be further renovated to accommodate the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf with completion by the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
    • Saigling Elementary is scheduled to receive approximately $1.7 million in upgrades from the 2022 bond program.

Facility Impact

  • If Plano ISD chooses to surplus the building and land that houses Forman Elementary (per the resolution approved by the Board of Trustees on May 7, 2024), it will be offered to the City of Plano for repurposing in a manner that protects the integrity and security of the neighborhood while fulfilling a community need.
