Astronomy

  • Astronomy is designed to fulfill the need for a third or fourth year science course.  Students will conduct field and laboratory investigations, use scientific methods during investigations, and make informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving. concerning the following topics: cosmology, astronomy in civilization, patterns & objects in the sky, humans' place in space, the moon, meteorological influences on Earth, planets, stars, galaxies, and space exploration. Students who successfully complete Astronomy will acquire knowledge within a conceptual framework, conduct observations of the sky, work collaboratively, and develop critical-thinking skills.
