Gulledge Elementary is committed to excellence, powered by learning, dedicated to caring, and Plano ISD proud. We intentionally plan for the student success by partnering with families to promote optimum engagement. Our campus supports each student’s academic and personal development by fostering a positive learning environment and providing equity to each child. High performing teams collaborate and look forward at our ongoing work to improve supports and services. We celebrate the success of our campus and students. Highlights include: recognizing students through positive behavior and leadership programs; offering our students access to a district level science fair, history fair, spelling bee, Continental Math, and PTA Reflections program, diversity and fine arts programs, where several advance to regional levels and beyond. Gulledge’s inaugural Robotics team advanced to the regional level competition. Our winning Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has been recognized with multiple awards including a National PTA School of Excellence, a recognition program celebrating the rich partnership amongst families, staff, and students.

History of Gulledge
Gulledge Elementary opened in 1995 and was named for South Carolina-born merchant Joseph Harold Gulledge (1857-1943), whose family moved to Texas after the Civil War. From 1882-95, he and a partner operated a dry goods store in Plano; Gulledge continued the business independently until 1918. He also traded in cotton and grain, helped organize the Plano Compress Company and was president of the Plano National Bank 1921-31.
