    Facilities & Technology Study Overview

School trustees established the 20-member task force in the fall of 2007 to study facility and technology needs of the district. Comprising school district and community leaders, the task force has met monthly to review enrollment trends and projections, establish construction and renovation needs, visit school facilities and validate costs. Phil Dyer serves as task force chairman.

"It has been four years as promised since the school district has held a bond issue to address major facilities and technology needs,” said Dr. Doug Otto, superintendent of schools. “The 2004 bond election handled several major projects, and now it is time to revisit our district's needs."

Dr. Otto continued, "Trustees understand the significance of our community's tax dollar investment in area schools. Among our school district’s key goals is a commitment that those tax dollars are effectively and efficiently managed in order to provide quality education and programming for our students and community."

The purpose of the Facilities & Technology Study Task Force was to review three important questions: How can we improve our facilities and technology for students, staff and community needs? How can we best meet those needs? What makes financial sense for Plano ISD?

The task force's scope and timeline and meeting agendas and minutes are posted on this website.
