STAAR EOC Overview
The STAAR End-of Course (EOC) assessments will test a high school student’s mastery of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for a given course, and determine college and career readiness. If a student is enrolled in grade 8 or below and is taking a course for which there is a STAAR EOC assessment, that student will be required to take the applicable STAAR EOC assessment.

Individual Graduation Committees
HB 999 allows students who are in 12th grade during the 2021–2022 school year to graduate regardless of the number of required assessments they have failed by going through the Individual Graduation Committee (IGC) process. The IGC process itself has not changed. IGCs must establish a plan that the student must complete to be eligible to graduate. The IGC plan must require additional remediation and a project or portfolio for each course with an associated EOC which the student did not pass.
